One movie from the 80′s that I thought was pretty good is Red Dawn. This movie has been remade like just about every other film. The story is about a small town in the Midwest that gets taken over by Russian terrorists.
People are rounded up and some of the parents are even killed. A group of teenagers hide out and band together and fight back. What would you do if your town or city was taken over by terrorists or aliens? Would you give up or fight back? Write a story about this happening in your city or town.
If you live in a big city the story can be pretty exciting but if you live in a small town there are great possibilities to make your story awesome too.
Give it a try.

Write a poem about what your hopes for your summer vacation.
My Summer
Hot days lounging in the sun
Outdoor concerts overflowing with music
Barbeques, time with friends
Outdoor festivals with artists selling their wares
Peace
Trips to the beach greeting the endless ocean
Salted air and picnics
Relaxing
Road trips down the weary highway
Wishing that it would never end
