Teen Writing Tip


Sometimes what I need is to just watch a “fluff” movie but then there are times when I need food for my soul.  I love movies that force actors to dig deep and find the inner lives of their characters.  What kind of characters are you writing today?  Knowing how to write all kinds of characters is important and the best way to learn is to crack open one of the classics like Jane Austin and learn from the best.

Writing complicated characters isn’t difficult.  I think characters can become complicated when you place them in a situation that calls for them to”rise to the occasion” and be more than they thought they could be. Maybe your character’s

is in love with her best friend’s boyfriend or your character’s parents should split but aren’t and now your character has to deal with the insanity of everything.   Instead of  giving your character a neatly tied but life complicate things and see what happens.
