I just finished reading Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver.  It’s the second book in the Delirium series. Lena, the story’s protagonist realizes that she can’t live her life without love and the love of Alex, her new-found love.  This may seem like a normal thing,- falling in love but it isn’t at least not in Lena’s world.  At eighteen everyone in the United States receives a procedure that rids them of the desire to love.

This book takes off where the first novel ended.  Lena has escaped over the border and into the Wilds, a forbidden place where a band of people called the Invalids dwell.  Invalids are a sect a people who refuse to get the procedure.  Lena nearly lives after she crosses over after being separated from Alex, who was and captured and presumed  dead.  She is nursed back to health and ends up joining the Invalids.

Lots of action and surprises as Lena finds herself falling in love with someone new, a boy named Julian who is part of the part the opposed everything she believes in.  Great read! Definitely put this one on your book list for the summer.
