Teen Book Review – The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

Standard

I thought I’d have a few posts between mentioning what I was reading and finishing this book but the truth is I couldn’t put it down. The 5th Wave is Red Dawn meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers. This YA novel is about a girl named Cassie who is among the last survivors of an alien invasion. It’s difficult to tell who the good guys are because the aliens look like us. When the story starts billions of people have died around the world after a series of “waves” sent by the aliens have killed off most of the inhabitants of Earth.

This story focuses on Cassie’s survival and the survival of the remaining humans around in Ohio. The mothership looms waiting for something, what I’m not sure but the aliens definitely have a plan and you can bet that plan doesn’t include sharing the planet they want to claim as their own. I can’t even get into really discussing much more because I will end up giving up some of the secrets that makes up wish you didn’t have to sleep because all you want to do is keep reading.

If you like cool teen girls who know how to fight. Fight for the ones she loves and fight for humanity then this book is for you.
